All the things I can talk about mean nothing to me:

Poetry Reading and Conversation

May 17 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

A two-part event, especially for readers and writers of poetry!

First, a reading featuring 5 poets from Atlanta and across the broader South. Second, a discussion circling what it means to be a poet within movements. This is not a panel discussion, but a conversation that all in attendance are invited to participate in.

Some questions we will consider:

What role does poetry play in movements? Can poetry serve a revolution? Should it?

Poetry as a way of imagining a new world, poetry as elegy… What is a “political” poem? Who (or what) do you write for? What do you owe them?

How do you protect you and your loved ones inside your poems? What is your relationship to privacy, security, and opacity in your work? Are you loyal to imagination? Are you loyal to truth? Is it difficult to speak? Do you share your poems publicly?

If poetry “does” anything, what does it do? What might we make it do?
